The Histories of the
Third Millennium This is my
sprawling epic of future history—should I ever complete it. Told
through the eyes of many individual characters over the course of a
thousand years, the series will follow the story of humanity’s
expansion into solar space. In broad strokes, it is about our ongoing
struggle to build an advanced civilization and to grow into maturity as
a sentient species.
But this is not a collection of happy tales. Focused as they are on war, social upheavals, and the failures of democracy, the Histories are frequently tragic, replete with human suffering and grief. Worse yet, I’ve already made three major revisions, but the numerous plot threads have become so hopelessly tangled, that I’ll have to start all over again. |
